Between the Tihany Peninsula and Szántód, water flow can significantly increase during storms — reaching speeds of up to 2 meters per second.
Many consider Zamárdi the heart of Lake Balaton. The water here remains shallow for a long distance, and only further offshore can anglers find spots preferred by carp.
Fishing here is challenging but far from impossible — proven by multiple 20+ kg carp caught in 2020 and a notable 23+ kg fish in 2023.
The sector extends east to Siófok, a location that has delivered several surprises in recent years — including the largest carp ever caught in Lake Balaton and the current IBCC record: 35.625 kg by Team Aquarius.
