The 12th IBCC Has Started – 302 Teams Have Begun the Competition on the Shores of Lake Balaton

With a spectacular ceremonial opening, a parade of flags, and the official draw, the weekend of the 12th International Balaton Carp Cup has begun. The shores of Lake Balaton turned into a true international meeting point, as 302 teams from 26 countries lined up for the official opening ceremony, joining together in the build-up to the start.

Once again, the parade of flags was one of the most special moments of the event. Teams arrived for this prestigious competition not only from across Europe, but also from Asia and South Africa. The parade perfectly reflected the international status of the IBCC, the spirit of sportsmanship, and the strong community that brings the world’s biggest carp fishing competition to life year after year.

Following the opening ceremony and the draw, attention quickly shifted to the start on the next day. The teams took their drawn pegs, completed their final preparations, and by noon on Sunday, the 12th IBCC officially got underway. With that, the six-day, non-stop challenge began — a competition where every bite, every decision, and every well-chosen tactic can make a serious difference.

Lake Balaton may once again present a major challenge to the field. On this water, it is not enough to simply fish well: patience, endurance, coordinated teamwork, and constant adaptation are all essential. The first hours are always especially important, as this is when teams can lay the foundation for the rhythm and strategy of the days ahead.

So the competition is now underway, and the questions are already in the air:
– how big will this year’s largest carp be,
– which teams will make the strongest start to the week,
– and who will be able to deliver truly consistent performance on the shores of Lake Balaton?
